How to keep moisturized hair during winter?

With the cold weather returning and the rubbing of hats on the scalp, our hair is in bad mood and tends to become drier and more brittle. However, a few simple gestures to advise your clients can limit damage and protect their hair against the cold and aggressions. We've prepared a few tips to share with your clients to help them take care of their hair in winter.

However, a few simple gestures to advise your clients can limit damage and protect their hair against the cold and aggressions.

Protecting the hair fiber

The cold affects the transmission of nutrients from the scalp to the ends of the hair, making it more fragile and brittle. To limit these effects and help hair regain its moisture, it is recommended to use a professional mask for lengths and ends to be suggested to your customers.

Limit the hairdryer and the iron use

The use of heated tools further damages the already fragile hair. So even if the temptation is high in winter, recommend to your customers to limit the use of blow dryers or straightening irons as much as possible. You can advise them, for example, to space out shampoos, to opt for cold air diffusion or to lower the temperature of the iron. The use of thermo-protective products is also recommended to protect the hair from extreme temperatures.

Air is electric!

The wind is another winter inconvenience. It favors electric hair. In addition, wearing toques and scarves increases static electricity. How to avoid this? Hair is becoming electric because it's dry, so it's essential to moisturize it well, using an oil-based moisturizing spray for example.

Don't neglect the conditioner step

It tends to be neglected, yet the conditioner goes deeper into the hair fiber to moisturize it. Recommend a product adapted to the needs of your clients and take the opportunity to advise them on a complete hair care routine that includes shampoo, conditioner and/or mask and, if necessary, a targeted treatment for the ends or scalp.

Leave some air to your hair!

Remind your clients that tying up hair breaks the hair fiber and slows down the supply of nutrients right to the ends. It's important to leave them as free as possible for healthier hair!
